Mosquitoes locate their prey using several signals, the most important of which is the carbon dioxide we exhale when we breathe. This gas acts as a trigger signal that sets off their search for a host. Once this signal is detected, mosquitoes head towards the source to identify their prey.
CO₂ allows this natural signal to be replicated in order to attract mosquitoes to the trap, often well before they reach the area you wish to protect.
A key component of the HexaTrap CO₂ Capture trap
The HexaTrap CO₂ Capture trap works by replicating several signals used by mosquitoes to locate prey. The release of CO₂ simulates human breathing and attracts mosquitoes from a long distance away. Once near the trap, the device’s other signals take over to guide the mosquitoes towards the capture system.
The CO₂ cylinder fits directly into the designated compartment inside the HexaTrap CO₂ Capture trap. Once in place, it supplies the trap’s diffusion system and ensures that mosquitoes continue to be attracted throughout the entire period of use.
Flexible autonomy for the whole season
CO₂ cylinders are available in packs of 2, 4 or 6, allowing you to tailor your CO₂ supply to your usage and the length of your mosquito control season.
The duration of use depends on the diffusion mode programmed on your HexaTrap CO₂ Capture. The higher the diffusion rate, the greater the CO₂ consumption.
As a guide, 2 CO₂ cylinders provide up to:
- 80 days’ protection in Eco mode (4 hours per day)
- 54 days’ protection in Comfort mode (6 hours per day)
- 26 days’ protection in Intensive mode (12 hours a day)
- 14 days of continuous protection in 24-hour mode
