The 5 golden rules for using HexaTrap brand traps properly

Rule N°1
Start early in the season

HexaTrap brand traps target female mosquitoes. They are the ones that bite... and above all, the ones that lay eggs.
Capturing a single female can prevent the birth of up to 1,000 mosquitoes in a season! The goal is not only to reduce bites today, but also to limit reproduction for the weeks to come.
It is recommended to install the traps as soon as the outdoor temperature reaches 15°C. The earlier you start in the season, the greater the impact on the mosquito population.

Rule N°2
The right placement is crucial

The placement of the trap is the most important factor for its effectiveness. A poorly placed trap can lose a large part of its effectiveness, whereas a well-placed trap can truly improve your comfort.
To optimize captures by outdoor traps:
  • Avoid direct sun exposure
  • Protect the trap from wind and heavy rain
  • Place traps on the ground and on a flat surface
  • Leave at least 50 cm of clearance above the trap
Also favor a humid, shaded and vegetated area: near a hedge, shrubs or plants.
⚠️ Important: the trap must attract mosquitoes before they reach you. If it is placed too close to your terrace or living area, you may instead increase their presence nearby.
If results are not satisfactory, feel free to test another location for 3 to 4 days to identify the most effective area.

Rule N°3
Let it run continuously and maintain the trap

HexaTrap traps act gradually on your environment. For best results, it is recommended to let them run continuously, 24/7.
Simple maintenance helps preserve their full effectiveness:
  • Regularly clean the net or capture drawer
  • Replace consumables according to recommendations
  • Avoid using insecticides near the trap (they disrupt attractiveness)
  • Leave at least 50 cm of clearance above the trap

Rule No. 4
Be patient

A HexaTrap trap starts working immediately, but results appear gradually.
Several days are needed for:
  • Attractant signals spread through the environment
  • Mosquitoes are gradually attracted to the trap
  • Captures increase over time
If you then observe a decrease in the number of mosquitoes captured, it is generally a good sign: it means the local population is decreasing.
HexaTrap does not promise total eradication of mosquitoes, but a significant and lasting reduction of nuisances.

For maximum effectiveness, it is recommended to act at several points in the mosquito life cycle:
