Usage tips for HexaCatch

First of all, carefully read your device manual. It contains important information to install your trap properly and optimize your capture rate.
This page summarizes the main usage tips to get the best results.

Role of the trap

The HexaCatch trap acts on a key stage of the mosquito life cycle: egg laying.
Female mosquitoes naturally seek areas of stagnant water to lay their eggs. HexaCatch reproduces the ideal conditions of a breeding site to attract and then capture them.
The trap works in three steps:
  • It attracts mosquitoes by imitating a habitat favorable to egg laying
  • The net prevents direct access to the water
  • Mosquitoes are captured thanks to the adhesive sheet placed in the glazed area
The trap therefore helps limit mosquito reproduction in your garden.

Trap placement

HexaCatch works without electricity, allowing it to be placed in areas far from the garden and close to water points, often the most favorable for mosquito reproduction.
Proper placement is essential for good results.
POSITIONING CHECKLIST
  • Install the trap outdoors
  • Place the trap in a shaded and humid area
  • Prefer a location near vegetation (hedges, shrubs, flowerbeds)
  • Install traps in low-traffic areas of the garden
  • Place several traps at a distance from each other if the area is large
Mosquitoes often lay eggs in calm, sheltered places near vegetation.
After installation, test the location for at least 3 days to observe the first results.
If captures are low, do not hesitate to test other locations.

Starting the trap

  • Fill the reservoir of trap with water
  • Add some plant debris if possible (leaves, small pieces of vegetation – the result should be similar to an organic and natural water point)
  • Install the adhesive sheet in the glass section of the trap
  • Place the trap at the chosen location
Water and plant matter reproduce the conditions of a natural breeding site, which attracts female mosquitoes.
Did you know?
You have an attractant gel receptacle with the HexaCatch, allowing you to boost the trap's attraction if you wish.

Trap maintenance

To maintain the trap's effectiveness:
  • Replace the adhesive sheet every 2 weeks
  • Regularly check the trap's water level
  • Clean the trap if necessary

Results: what to expect?

HexaCatch acts directly on mosquito reproduction.%br%By capturing females seeking to lay eggs, the trap gradually reduces the local population.
    You may observe:
  • regular captures in the first weeks
  • a gradual decrease of mosquitoes in the garden
A single captured female can prevent the birth of several hundred mosquitoes.

Good to know
HexaCatch is even more effective when combined with HexaTrap traps.
The two traps act on two different mosquito behaviors:
  • HexaCatch → captures mosquitoes seeking to lay eggs
  • HexaTrap → captures mosquitoes seeking to bite
By combining the two solutions, you act on several stages of the mosquito life cycle.
Why target egg laying?
To reproduce, the mosquito must lay its eggs in water.
A female can lay several hundred eggs each cycle.
By capturing mosquitoes at the time of egg laying, we act directly on the birth of new generations.
