What is the attractant gel used for?
The attractant gel reproduces compounds found in human scent, including those released by skin and perspiration. These scent signals attract mosquitoes to the trap, where they are captured by the suction system.
How often should I replace the gel?
One gel dose is designed to last around one month. To keep the trap effective throughout mosquito season, replace the dose regularly.
Does the gel contain insecticide?
No. The gel is not an insecticide. It acts only as a scent attractant to guide mosquitoes to the trap.
Mosquitoes rely primarily on their sense of smell to locate their prey. They are particularly sensitive to certain compounds found in the odour of skin and sweat.
The HexaTrap attractant gel has been formulated to replicate these scent signals. Placed in the trap’s capsule, it is gradually released into the air via the device’s ventilation system.
This mechanism creates an olfactory signal that attracts mosquitoes to the trap.
The HexaTrap attractant gel is a TP19 biocidal formulation – attractant – developed and manufactured in France.
Its formulation has been assessed and authorised by the French National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) under marketing authorisation no. FR-2025-0046.
It works solely through olfactory attraction and contains no insecticide.
The gel is supplied in a syringe containing three 10 g doses.
Each dose provides approximately one month’s use in the trap. Simply place the recommended amount into the capsule provided for this purpose.
This refill ensures the trap remains effective throughout the mosquito season.
HexaTrap traps attract mosquitoes by replicating the signals they use to locate prey.
The attractant gel is one of these essential signals. Released through the trap’s ventilation system, it guides mosquitoes towards the device where they can then be captured.
When used with HexaTrap, HexaTrap CO₂ or HexaSafe traps, it helps to maintain the device’s effectiveness throughout the season.
