HexaCatch
Hexatrap captures mosquitoes looking for blood to bite.
Hexacatch works afterwards: it specifically targets female mosquitoes that have already bitten and are looking for stagnant water in which to lay their eggs.
This tackles the problem at its source.
A female tiger mosquito lives for around two months and can lay up to five batches of 150 eggs. By capturing just one gravid female before she lays eggs in your garden, you prevent the birth of 750 to 1,000 new mosquitoes.
No. It is a 100% passive, self-contained trap. It uses no electricity, fan or gas. It simply uses mosquitoes’ natural attraction to water and a mechanical capture system with an adhesive surface.
This is the secret of the trap: never use clear tap water (chlorine drives mosquitoes away). Use rainwater, pond water, or make an “infusion” by placing a few cut blades of grass or dead leaves in water, then pour this cloudy water into the bottom of the HexaCatch. The organic smell will irresistibly attract females.
We recommend 2 HexaCatch traps for a 300 m² garden (and 4 traps for larger areas). Place them in the dampest and shadiest parts of your grounds (under dense planting, near a water collector or at the bottom of a hedge). Never place them in direct sunlight: warm water will immediately repel female mosquitoes.
- The water has evaporated: during heatwaves, water in the bottom of the trap evaporates very quickly. If it is dry, it will no longer attract anything. Top it up regularly.
- The adhesive sheet is saturated or dry: over time, dust or pollen covers the adhesive. Replace the sheet.
- The location: your trap may be too exposed to sunlight or draughts. Move it deeper into a bush.
