Why add CO₂ to my mosquito trap?

Mosquitoes locate their target in two stages: from far away, they detect the carbon dioxide (CO₂) we exhale when breathing. At close range, they target the smell of our skin. By releasing CO₂, your trap becomes an irresistible “beacon” that attracts mosquitoes from a very long distance. Tests show that adding CO₂ multiplies the number of mosquitoes captured by five.

What is the quality of the gas in the cylinder?

Our HexaPure cylinders (425 g) contain gas of absolute purity. It is food-grade CO₂ from biomethanisation, produced in France. It is exactly the same neutral gas used to carbonate sparkling water. It contains no chemical substances harmful to health, animals or the environment.

How can I tell whether my cylinder is empty?

Unlike a water bottle, pressurised gas is invisible. The only reliable way to tell whether your cylinder is empty is by its weight (it will be noticeably lighter than a new cylinder) or by a complete lack of airflow from the regulator outlet.

My cylinder has been left in the sun. What should I do?

If the cylinder has become very hot to the touch, do not connect it to your device immediately and, above all, do not put it in a freezer to cool it down. Place it in the shade and wait for it to gradually return to room temperature before using it.

Does my CO₂ gas cylinder have an expiry date?

No. CO₂ gas does not expire at all. As long as your cylinder is stored in good conditions (away from direct sunlight and below 50°C), you can keep spare cylinders from one year to the next. The gas will remain intact and retain 100% of its effectiveness for the following season.
